Yesterday I was served for sending my instrument via certified mail to Home Depot as payment for my debt and they never sent my instrument coupon back. I’m not asking for legal advice, but advice on the next step to take?

You're gonna need to KNOW the relevant statutes inside and out so that you can force the issue in court. You're gonna have to explain it so well that the judge has no alternative but to give you the win and force them to either acknowledge it was paid ...or discharge the debt. We are dealing with a corrupt system. Both corrupt from evil people scamming us...and from people purely being ignorant of the facts. You might have to go school them on how the system works...so thoroughly that they can't disagree with you.
